Very interesting read I enjoyed the family lineage in the front of the book, I went back throughout my reading to get a clearer picture of just where a particular character fit in Growing up in the 50 s 60 s I often heard of the cold war in the news, but until reading Ashes of Wars and German Boy I had no idea of what the people in those countries went through It is heartbreaking to realize how much oppression they were under, and it gave me a richer appreciation of my freedom in America.
