Now this was a very interesting, if somewhat creepy, read Troy buys Hannibal House after the previous inhabitant died, he doesn t notice it has a creepy vibe but people in town warn him away from the house Delivery guys RUN from the house and the house itself warns him away.I really enjoyed this story You can tell the author has written what he knows and loves, no not creepy haunted houses although, I don t know, maybe he does love haunted houses , he writes about Wales The way he describes Wale [...]

David Nicol has painted a picture of a small town as seen through the eyes of a visitor, which is handy as a reader is a perpetual visitor, and really brings you into its local lore with the aid of a few eccentrics and a pub with a strange history Then there s the title house It becomes as creepy and unnerving as it is prominent in the mind of the main character The mental image I had of the town becomes warped as the main character s obsession for the house grows Nearing the climax, I thought o [...]

jerseyguyscanreadMy first comment regarding this book was that I was rather surprised to see it was only 40 pages I was expecting a longer, full length type of novel Not, of course, that I dislike short stories or was anything short of impressed by Hannibal House It did after all earn 4 out of 5 stars in my book for giving me the creeps even though I read it in the middle of the day, on a treadmill no less I just had that expectation in the back of my mind that I think threw me off than anythin [...]

Absolutely loved it Definitely my type of story creepy, dark and full of suspense The paranormal edge gave the story an added dimension and was a real bonus for me It s one of those stories that you ll read during the day and be fine with, but as soon as you go to bed, you ll be terrified that a tv with no power will come on or nothing will be banging on the front door or even worse, the liquidy man will come and get you shudders

I do not seek out scary stories but I wanted to read this one, mainly to see if my Welsh experience was anything like this one and I m happy to say that it was not.Good story, left me wanting .Pretty intense scariness.Hated that ringing phone

An enjoyable short story about a haunted house A little light on details and atmosphere, but the plot premise is good and left me wanting to know about the house.
