Where do i begin this series was one hell of a ride literally it drove me insane at times and others it made me want to cry with such joy and love i really couldn t contain myself Book one was addicting i just couldn t get enough of it and i felt as if this was going to be one of my all time favourites sadly after this book i do not feel so strongly about it being my all time favourite series The second book was a great continuation it didn t make me want to pull my hair out nor did it make me w [...]

I absolutelly fell in love with this series I would have to say that it is one of the greatest tales involving mermaids that I have ever read Anne Greenwood Brown s take on one of the oldest mythological creatures was stunning and pulled off amazingly The story was unlike anything I have read before and portrayed just how animalistic and human such an ancient creature can be.

I really enjoyed the first two books of this series, so I am sad to say I was disappointed by this book and the way it all ended I still enjoyed all of the characters, and thought the story contained a fun amount of mystery, but overall I thought the ending was rushed and unsatisfactory Lilly is now a mermaid and is trying to adjust to her new lifestyle Not only does she have to endure gut wrenching pain when she transforms back into a human, but she gets no sleep because Nadia is haunting her d [...]

I loved the overall story but Lily and Calder just grow annoying as the story continues.

Even though the murderer from book two has been killed, teen Lily Hancock s life is far from peaceful The killer s sister keeps hounding Lily to find out what she knows about her brother s death Also, Lily is able to quickly transition to a mermaid and back, however, it is still excruciatingly painful While she enjoys the time in the water with her boyfriend, merman Calder White, she s experiencing weird dreams due to the pendant she wears that belonged to Calder s merfolk family s mother, Nadia [...]

I hated everything about this book Even the fact that it included mermaids Surely not, I can hear you saying You adore mermaids. This is true But even that could not rise my opinion of this book to anything above pure contempt. So Lily, who has been relatively stable for two books other than the fact that she is dating a literal murderer and has never once discussed this with said murderer boyfriend as if pretending it didn t happen makes him psychologically sound starts wearing a magic necklace t [...]

I realized I hadn t finished the series yet, and I had the final installment downloaded So I read this way after I read the others That never bodes well for a review The story is disjointed but tolerable What I couldn t stand was the central relationship of the book Lilly and Calder s romance is pretty creepy by the end For example, she asks him to go find his family A decent thing to do really Do it in a weekend I don t understand why Lilly, the tech savvy one, wouldn t spend a couple hours he [...]

This is a great book and series however it does leave a lot of loose ends that are never really explained and nothing really feels resolved at the end it kinda cries out for another book to really tie up everything nicely or at least a chapter in the future to see how things turned out

I want to thank the author, Anne Greenwood Brown, for sending me an ARC of this book to read and review I have loved this series from the start So given the chance to read the final book early, you can bet I jumped at it Receiving this book for free has in no way influenced my opinion or review.Blurb from Calder and Lily never imagined falling in love would mean breaking apart But ever since Lily started wearing a glass pendant that once belonged to Nadia, Calder s adoptive mother, she s been ha [...]

This is basically a review for the series as a whole and contains spoilers for the whole series Lies Beneath is a book that kinda took me by surprise I hadn t read a great many mermaid books, and I don t know that I ve read any others that are actually merman books Plus, the angle of having mermaids actually be really dangerous to humans was appealing The first book was very enjoyable It introduces characters who are dark yet sympathetic Merpeople in this book are actually a lot like werewolves, [...]

It s always hard to return to a world you haven t visited in awhile, especially one where you read the last book as an ARC Anne Greenwood Brown s Promise Bound is the final book in the Lies Beneath series that brings us the mermaids of old The kind that liked to lure sailors to their watery deaths I ve always enjoyed Anne s spin on mermaids, they re not all the singing princess longing for land although she was great too My memory from Deep Betrayal is pretty much nonexistent The most I could re [...]

This was such an epic conclusion This is probably my favorite mermaid series I ve ever read It s full of interesting characters and crazy twists and a beautiful setting This final book isn t just from one character s perspective, but it alternates between Lily and Calder I wish the first two books did this Lies Beneath was completely Calder s POV, and Deep Betrayal was from Lily s POV I love how well differentiated the narration is between their parts Calder is self deprecating and sarcastic and [...]

I have to say that this is one series I fell in love with and I am sad to see it end but the author wrapped things up so well that I am ok with letting it go I really fell in love with the character of Lily and Calder and it was great to see how their story would end We started this book out with Lily and Calder having to deal with the fact that Lily is different now that she has started wearing Nadia s pendant I have to say I loved the way the author wove the dreams that Lily started having int [...]

Promise Bound is an excellent conclusion to the Lies Beneath trilogy Calder grows quite a bit, as does Lily, and Brown manages the alternating viewpoints in this novel like a pro I could clearly hear every character s voice during their chapters The characters are also faced with tons of challenges, which I liked However, this book isn t perfect, and there are a few things that I would have liked to have seen, such as a clearer, definite ending and steady pacing For the most part, though, I re [...]

Another series finished but unfortunately this one wasn t all that great I just felt like the ending came about far too abruptly, leaving me with a lot of unanswered questions and a vague sense of disappointment. The plot itself was a little all over the place With the return of Maris and Pavati things are getting seriously complicated for the Hancock family Jack s disappearance has been raising a lot of questions in town and now Pavati is back with a baby who has to be raised on land for a year [...]

If my review peeked your interest, you can find me at Urban Girl Book Review.Should the plot have been tighter Yes, the novel was scattered, moving from one plot line to another without a clear direction Overall, Promise Bound was completely forgettable with one scene blending into another scene with no real distinction Also, the ending action scene was overly complicated with the perspective switching from various characters, producing a scene that overlapped and replayed itself numerous times [...]

Riveting and heart achy, PROMISE BOUND will leave you breathless.Immediately we are treated with a return to Calder s point of view Let s be honest here I seriously missed this guy in the second book Alternating the chapters between Calder and Lily was absolutely necessary for this story, and it was very well done Everything about this book is well done The language is sometimes tantalizingly descriptive, sometimes common and filled with local slang, and at other times poetic The perspectives of [...]

I liked this series, enjoyed the story but I had trouble with a few tiny things First what I enjoyed I liked the new twist in the series Nadia , that was unexpected for me,and very welcome I also liked that really liked Calder s POV, his adventures in Canada balanced this novel well The will he or won t he feel of his adventure s filled me with equal parts dread, anger, and excitement The final twist which I will not spoil was A maze balls I did NOT see that one coming The wind up of this novel [...]

While I enjoy the mermaids of Lake Superior, this final installment of Lies Beneath series left me wanting And that s mostly because the plot was too thin to carry out an entire book Or the way it was handled left it feeling thin.We are forced to endure Calder and Lily s separation because, well, we needed to bring romantic tension I don t know I guess there was to this book, but not really view spoiler Ok, it really bothered me that Lily s mother almost frickin dies, but, that doesn t seem to [...]

In this final book the Lies Beneath Trilogy Lily starts to have identity issues and is changing Calder fears maybe she is getting the mermaid qualities he hoped she would never have Lily however starts having dreams of Nalia since she started wearing her necklace She has been barely sleeping When she tells Calder he brushes Lily off as dreaming of things she has been told.Lily knows Nalia has come to her for a reason but becomes frustrated that Nalia is taking her time in directing her lily soon [...]

Skimmed over some parts for this book too Felt like there was so much build up for Calder to his mother, but their reunion was just touched on very briefly extremely anti climatic The whole arc with Chelsea and Calder was okay. This seems like a trend for the author s books to have rushed and open ended endings I wanted to know about how receptive Danny was to becoming a mermaid too And what happened to Mrs.Hancock, is she alive or dead The change of POV was bit confusing in the beginning betwee [...]

This was definitely the ending that these characters deserved This one picks up right where Deep Betrayal left off Lily is still trying to get used to her fin, and the excruciating pain it takes when her transforms Calder is all about the future He wants to leave his past behind Then, Lily shatters that dream when she tells him that his mom made a promise that he needs to fulfil while the battle of the sea commences.I have to admit When Calder went away, I fear the whole New Moon drama again But [...]
