I recommend this book to folk of all ages, not just children I found Tracy s writing style to be enthralling and vivid She had me emotions on a rollercoastr ride, one moment laughing, the next weepy and at times, as a mother, feeling like mama bear ready to attack the villians Not only did Tracy manage to bring her characters to life, I felt that they were children I knew and ached for , but also made her book Visual I could clearly picture the environment and moods of the scenery and various pl [...]

YA literature is not something I usually read However, a friend encouraged me to read this one and it may have changed my mind about the genre Unscanned is the first, I hope, of the stories of young Adam, a Downer in a future society The characterization of Adam and his companions is clearly drawn and engages the reader s sympathy to their plight The adults in the novel, while few and far between, are symbols of the dystopia society has become than actual characters The book has excellent pacin [...]

Tracy Todd has done an excellent job of creating a convincing futurescape in this complexly plotted and intriguing book which serves as a stark warning about where humanity might end up if we take the wrong path The book resonates on many levels and is a thought provoking read which is perfect for its target audience of 10 12 year olds.

I have read Ms Todd s 7th novel, which I enjoyed, and so did look out for this one It is a great YA read A slow start, which takes an unexpected turn and then quickly picks up speed The goal break is exciting reading with a very satisfying finale It is interesting to follow the conflicting emotions of Adam, the main character, as he s torn between his personal need to get home, his promises, his new friends, his adversaries who become his friends , and those he left behind Great to see this is a [...]

The debut novel novel from Tracy Todd is a wonderful, enthralling Dystopian Tale, superbly written from the perspective of Adam Well imagined and written, this enjoyable YA read will appeal not just to the target audience, but to children of any age.It certainly took me back to my youth and I thoroughly look forward to the sequel Collector, when it is released, to find out about what the future holds for the Downers in the chillingly plausible world they struggle to survive in.

This is what once would have been called a good yarn The story moves on at a crisp pace no chance of getting bored It engages by making you care about the fate of the children whilst at the same time making you wonder about the society in which they find themselves A nightmare world but how far from a future reality A good read for children from 9 to 90.

This is a great play for schools and clubs as it is short, but has a lot of drama It can be delivered with minimal setting and cost.
