5 mindfucking stars This book was awesome, but if you re looking for a romance story in the traditional sense you re going to be disappointed There is a story about love but not necessarily between the main characters, although we do have sort of a relationship developing between them as well Any romance in this book is secondary and nicely woven around the main idea Fighting to protect the Earth against an alien species that seems intent on destroying us But is it really What exactly is the tru [...]

A good science fiction story with a frisson of romance I like a good science fiction story but not those that overflow with complex world building This story manages to be both engaging and enjoyable sci fi so that even if the reader is not a sci fi fan they would still enjoy it For sci fi fans it ticks all the sci fi boxes and it also has romantic themes as well but the romance is not really the story The war is the story. The world building is excellent We have planet Earth which is under attac [...]

Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance 4.25 Stars Tide of War was a stellar sci fi novel, although it did have a few flaws The narrative was smooth and the action was fast paced, but the romance was a little rough and the female characters, though strong and kick ass, were treated poorly in the end. From the beginning I had a sense that all was not right with the way things were, and I questioned myself several times as to whether I was paranoid or looking into things However, I was right and it lead t [...]

Set in the not so distant future the Fleet Fighters and the Elite Squadron are protecting Earth from an attacking alien force While the aliens seem to not be interested in taking over territory on Earth the Menarian s are certainly interested in damaging as much of the planet as possible Earth s retaliation has sent their best fighter pilots and gunners to Epsilon Station, a station that is orbiting Menar These Elite fighters are taking the fight to their enemy Sadly as the long years of war con [...]

I liked the sci fi aspect and the story twist took my breath away But the romance if you can even call it that well I think the story would have been better off without it.Andrei Dezhnyov he is bi has a wonderful relationship with his wife and she of all things encourages him to take male lovers Kyle West is married to a lesbian and secretly gay After the death of his lover and his son he starts an affair with Andrei and their wives know about it and encourage them Well 3 stars for the sci fi an [...]

A review by The Blogger Girls.I am not generally into sci fi stories, but this was Ms Witt, so I had to give it a go It was quite different than what I expected which made it interesting and rather unique It was like Top Gun in space with a few extras thrown in.So, there is a war going on between Earth and an alien race called the Menarians There are fighters on Earth protecting from below, and fighters from above the Elite force located on the battle station Epsilon The first thing that is inte [...]

This is masterfully crafted, in a way old school, science fiction like only Lori Witt can deliver. The world building is excellent, perhaps in a Wag the Dog way The character development is phenomenal and our two MCs, Kyle West and Andrei Dezhnyov are so well written that you actually feel their their pain and angst form losing their loved ones. This book comes off so well, with not contrived angles Top notch science fiction.

I am usually a contemporary romance reader I hardly ever touch science fiction at all However, I do enjoy the genre from time to time when I feel that the characters are interesting and the plot grabs my attention. So it is a huge surprise for me that one of my top 10 books of 2015 is this sci fi novel What is so great about this book Hell, if I were a Hollywood producer, I d throw millions at this script to turn it into a movie Even if the m m romance characters are probably not mainstream Holly [...]

Wow This may have been a longer than usual ride as far as length of story, but it was well worth it All I can say was that the world building was fantastic and believable, and the supporting characters got under my skin and into my heart.I did not know what to think when the initial way the relationships were portrayed in this story made me question the moral character of the MCs.But Then I just got it It made for a much deeper level of empathy, understanding, and friendship that I didn t expect [...]

I m not exactly sure how to review this I ve honestly started it three times at least You re just going to have to forgive me for being vague Without giving anything major away, there s just no other way to review The Tide of War, so here it goesThis is a book of love, loss and betrayal but not in the conventional sense Honestly, romance takes a back seat to the real story, but it s still an integral part of what happens The twists and turns, hints of what s really going on and several moments o [...]

3.5 stars Serviceable story that gets a boost from an excellent twist Oddly enough considering the author and publisher, I think this would have been better without the romance It was clunky and distracted from the sci fi plot. Thanks to Riptide and NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy.

This is one of those ho hum, it was ok kind of books The writing was fine, the editing was fine, the dialogue was fine There wasn t a lot of sex, but it was fine Nothing in the book blew my mind, but I didn t hate it either.Unfortunately, as much as I love me some M M loving, I thought the book would have been stronger without it Which is unfortunate, because the aspect of the book I appreciated most was that both men had serviceable, happy marriages that still accommodated their sexuality One w [...]

I was really attached to the group dynamic between four of the principal characters, I really did not take keen on the death of all and only female characters of the book to only advance the storyline of the male protagonists I have the feeling that in the end the author didn t stay true to the personality of the characters they created themselves I am myself in a Poly group and just went through a heartbreak Andrei s despair is not half what it should have been and Emily s death was POINTLESS t [...]

OMG I m a sucker for a good sci fi that s light on the sci and heavy on the fi Oh how this fit the bill I wouldn t exactly call this a romance but there was lots of honest to goodness love involved, with some tastefully understated sex There was great intrigue, lots of adventure, plenty of action, a giant conspiracy, loss despair, and a great big surprise The ending could have been a bit better but if a series is coming I d read the next book.

This is like a 3.5 star rounded up First up this isn t a romance book It would have been better with the romance aspects a little muted and sold as a straight up military science fiction book It even fails at the m m labeling in that Andrei is bi and in a open relationship with his wife that he loves very much The relationship between Andrei and Kyle felt like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole It was clunky and needless deaths happened to fit them together for a quick riding off into [...]
