      The way Delany uses loneliness, the desire for companionship and sexual fetishes in this story make it groundbreaking It is one of those stories you really should read to understand the development of the genre If Ellison was looking for controversy, then that is exactly what he got with this story I m not surprised at all he made it the parting shot of the anthology It is, there is no other way to put it, a brilliant piece of work Full Random Comments review

      I appreciate the themes this story tries to tackle, and the character interactions were generally fine, but the style of writing here was a major turn off While the conversations the protagonist has with the Frelk benefit from leaving things unsaid, the rest of the story gains little from applying the same tactics The story begins seemingly mid sentence and plows right on ahead, switching location and time in a matter of short sentences, all while playing its cards very close to its chest This m [...]
