Trail of Secrets by Eileen Goudge is 2011 Open Road Integrated Media publication I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is one of those books originally published in the mid 1990 s and reissued in digital format, so that is something you want to keep in mind before starting this one Ellie, a young single mother suffers a parent s worst nightmare Her infant daughter is kidnapped and Ellie must go forward with her life never knowing [...]

It s been a while since I read any books by this author and I m wondering now what I ve been missing This was an excellent story of family. Two decades ago Ellie s infant daughter was kidnapped and sold to the highest bidder Ellie knew in her heart that her child was alive somewhere but after spending years looking for her with no results her life moved on Unable to have children, Ellie and her husband have tried repeatedly to adopt a child only to have each birth mother change her mind at the l [...]

I m a little conflicted by this novel It had moments of very insightful and moving vividness of the happiness and difficulties within relationships Be those relationships between mothers and daughters or a women and her husband Those were beautiful The constant internal dialogs with the characters where annoying and drove me a little crazy because they slowed the entire story down The entire book plot can be found on the blurb and so the story was predictable Getting there was wonderful and engr [...]

This book kept me up until the wee hours, as I couldn t turn out the light until I saw how it ended If one is willing to suspend belief in coincidences, it s a romantic, satisfying love story.Ellie was a teenage unwed mother whose baby was stolen from her 22 years later, she s a successful psychologist, but her heart had been broken when she lost Bethanne, and never having been able to have another child, she is desperate to adopt Two girls have promised her their babies, but changed their minds [...]

Eileen Goudge did an exceptional job in writing this story and though she tried to make readers emphasize with the characters, I could not The only characters I emphasized with were Tony, Skyler s baby s daddy who loved her, Mickey, Kate s best friend since childhood, and Paul, Ellie s husband I found the rest of the characters Ellie, Skyler s biological mother and Kate and Will, Skyler s adoptive parents, narcissistic and selfish Ellie Nightingale s infant daughter was kidnapped Kate learned th [...]

Hmmm This is a book that I am very conflicted on now that I have finished reading it There were places in this novel that made me smile and want to clap for the author for her originality and thoughtful writing, but at the same time, there were many places where I thought she dipped too far out of reality for me to accept or believe that the characters would ever behave in such a manner There is some great writing here The author obviously understands a lot about emotions, human relationships an [...]

Although I found the story somewhat predictable, it was a good read 25 years following her infant daughter s kidnapping, Ellie Nightingale is still haunted by her loss Skylar Sutton, young champion horsewoman, has a moment of weakness and becomes pregnant Kate Sutton, her mother guards a secret All three come together in this novel I have read several of Eileen Goudge s books and found them all entertaining, my favorite being Woman in Red Her characters come alive and tug at your heartstrings.

I picked this book up just by chance I tend to do SF, Fantasy, mystery This is none of those However, there were fully developed flawed characters that evolved throughout the novel it definitely kept me interested, in spite of a stack of horseshow stuff I didn t much care about I would guess it counts as a modern romance I did skim through some sections don t care much about points at horse shows , but tended to enjoy the novel.

This the story of a woman who soon after adopting a baby hears of akidnapping that sounds a lot like her child The years pass with always a shadow of worry that the truth will come out This is a good story to challenge you to think about what you would be capable of, and how far you would go to protect your relationship with your child.

Eileen Goudge writes a fascinating story of a young woman whose baby is stolen Also a romance on a couple different levels with 3 couples A great tale about parenthood as well Most women would love this story You know how it should end, but you don t know what events the author will use to get there.

Twist of fate would be a good title for this book Ellie s daughter is kidnapped when she is a few months old Fast forward about 19 years What are the chances of meeting that daughter without realizing it and adopting her child So many twists and turns in this book It was hard to lay down during the second half of the story I really enjoyed this book.

    17. Christa on said:

A good read, if a tad unbelievable There a quite a few turns where i just said What that would never happen in the real world in a million years But I guess that is the point with fiction Tony is a bit too stereotypical Horse jumping events scenes are kind of boring, maybe if you are a big equine fan you will like it I skimmed those parts mostly Ending wrapped up a bit too neatly.

A psychologist, haunted by the kidnapping of her baby daughter 23 years ago, decides to try adoption Her missing daughter, now grown up and pregnant, hears of a woman desperate for a child Thus Eileen Goudge sets the stage for a story rich with drama and delicious family secrets.
