I read this as research for a production of Arthur Millers The Crucible , and found it to be one of the most valuable books I read It covers a longer time period both before after the Salem trials, in which I was interested The chapters on the origins of the crisis and the events leading up to Salem in the 50 years pre3ceding it were fascinating Anyone with a real interest in the Salem trials should check this book out you ll get a much complete picture of the history of the period.
